Body

Hold the tape at the point where the seam of the shoulder meets the collar, and keeping it as straight as possible, measure downwards to where you desire the shirt to finish.

Sleeve

Stand in an upright posture with your arms placed straight down by your sides. Take a tape measure from the centre of your shoulder`s (about 1" or 2.5 cm below where your shirt collar sits) then run the tape across the top of your shoulder and down the outside of your arm to a point 1/2" (1.3 cm) past the prominent bone of the wrist.

Alternatively, using one of your favourite shirts that fits well. Lay it on a flat surface and measure from the centre of the shoulders down the full length of the sleeve to the bottom of the cuff. Allow and extra 1/2" (1.3 cm) for material shrinkage after washing.

Hip

The tape measure is placed around the hips being sure to incorporate the widest point of the seat.

Waist

Place the measuring tape against the skin around the fullest part of your waist, usually just above your hips.

Chest

Put the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest remembering to keep the tape horizontal.

Collar

Measure around the base of your neck where the shirt`s collar would normally sit. Allow enough room for one or two finger tips (depending on how loose you like your collar to fit) to be inserted comfortably between the tape measure and your neck.

Alternatively, take one of your own business shirts that you feel has a comfortable collar size then simply lay it out flat and measure the distance between the middle of the button hole and the middle of the button on the inside (the part next to your skin) of the collar.
