Style Notes
As the quintessential Jazz Age dreamer with an eye for style and an unparalleled level of charm, Jay Gatsby is one of literature‚ most renowned characters. The novel from which he came, F Scott Fitzgerald‚ 'The Great Gatsby', directly referenced T&A in a now-iconic scene which sees Gatsby fling his shirts in the air while his beloved Daisy cries because she has ‘never seen such beautiful shirts before‘. Therefore it seemed natural that when the book was reimagined on the silver screen for the first time in 1974, T&A was the first port of call to create the eponymous protagonist‚ shirt and tie. The Gatsby tie comes in a repeat floral and spot pattern coloured in tepid tones of green, pink and orange atop a pastel blue base. Pair this piece with the coordinating Gatsby shirt for an understated ode to the 1920s fictional antihero.
Construction Details
Our ties are handmade at our English workrooms. They are designed in-house and woven at a centuries-old English silk mill. Each tie is made with a self-tipped blade and delicate slip-stitching along its entire length, which allows it to sit comfortably on the neck and recover after each day’s wear. Our ties measure 9.5cms wide at their broadest point.
