Before six decades of Bond style, there was Dr. No. Ahead of the very first James Bond film in 1962, Sean Connery visited Turnbull & Asser’s Jermyn Street store to be measured for the shirts that would help establish 007’s enduring sartorial identity.

Cut from crisp blue cotton, the design is distinguished by its two-button turn-back cocktail cuffs, an elegant detail that would become inextricably linked with Bond and one of the most recognisable signatures of his shirting.

More than sixty years later, the Dr. No shirt remains a remarkable piece of cinematic and sartorial history, recalling the moment Bond style began.

Unique textiles, produced in small batches, are carefully selected and brought to our Gloucester factory, where our shirts are then made by hand: from the collar to the cuff, each element is superbly executed by highly-skilled seamstresses, ensuring unsurpassed quality and style in every detail.
