Construction Details
Our 'Traveller' umbrella features a Malacca crook handle, complemented with an Acer wood shaft spliced into it, resulting in a two-piece construction that ensures solidity and durability. Sourced from Malaysia, Malacca wood is a traditional material used for umbrella handles, adding a touch of sophistication to any ensemble, whether on a daily basis or while travelling. The specification of our 'Traveller' umbrellas allows the handle and end piece to be unscrewed from the main body, effectively reducing its length and making it ideal to pack in a large suitcase. The umbrella's total length measures 22 inches when both pieces are unscrewed. The unscrewed components remain securely attached to the main body, preventing misplacement. Each of our umbrellas is mounted with a Turnbull & Asser Sterling Silver collar and features a high-grade, water-repellent polyester canopy. This umbrella is designed with a 25-inch frame and an approximately 50-inch canopy spread when open. With its Malacca handle, the umbrella provides a robust and refined stick from handle to tip, offering an excellent alternative to a cane or walking stick. When used in this manner, placing the rubber ferrule at the top of the umbrella over the metal ferrule is advisable to ensure added stability and minimise the risk of slipping on pavements.
