At Turnbull & Asser we have teamed up with British brand LARKE Optics to create a capsule eyewear collection. Headed by creative director Laura Nicholson, LARKE shares our passionate 'Made In England' mantra, handmaking every pair of spectacles in the country's capital, London. LARKE's aesthetic contrasts T&A's, forgoing eccentricity in favour of more minimal, uncomplicated styles in strong shapes and equally quality-centric materials. This intriguing juxtaposition makes LARKE the perfect collaborator for our first range of this kind.
The Roark design was developed as part of our AW16 Artist and Architect story. The name comes from Howard Roark, a fictional architect from Ayn Rand's 1943 novel, The Fountainhead. The bold angular lines reminisce on the spec styles of the 50s, while the black and clear half/half frame colouring adds a more contemporary element.
